The Deputy Director of Education in Maharashtra State has been suspended today amidst the allegations of misusing the powers vested in him. The orders of his suspension have been forwarded by the State Education Department.
B D Phadtare, who was promoted to the post of deputy director of education in 2014 has been suspended on account of his involvement in First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions irregularities. His suspension has been confirmed by Education Commissioner Purshotam Bhapkar.
He said, “The suspension orders have been issued on Tuesday. There have been several issues in his working while he held office. A lot of FYJC admissions were conducted offline despite an online process in place.”
On Friday 11 September, the similar action was taken against the former deputy director of education, NB Chavan. Acting on the complaints made by Mumbai-based activist for misusing his position for FYJC admissions and staff approvals and transfers, State Education Department suspended both the officials.
NB Chavan was promoted from Assistant deputy director post to deputy director in 2012 and then transferred to the State Institute of Education Technology, Bal Chitravani last year. His tenure was to end this month only.
Both the officials have been suspended in view of their involvement in the irregularities.
