Du receives over 3.6 lakh applications for UG admissions

The last date to register for admission in Delhi University expired today. The window to accept applications was closed at 5 pm. As per reports, close to 3.6 lakh applicants have registered while less than 3 lakh succeeded in completing the registration by paying the fee.

As the Delhi University went ahead with complete online admission process for the first time, it received overwhelming response from students. For admissions in over 53,000 seats in various undergraduate courses, the university received 39 thousand applications on the very first day.

The online registration process began on June 1 and total 3,41,700 applicants registered till 6 PM of June 19, the official figures mentioned. Further giving three more days to applicants, the university decided to extend the last date for online application to June 22. In its schedule, DU had notified to announce the first cut-off list on June 27, however as the registration date was modified, DU first cut off list will now be released on June 30.

The online registration and registration fee payment for the candidates applying for the undergraduate courses based on merit for 2016-17 shall continue till 5 PM of June 22, 2016, the official notification released on June 18 said. However, the university has given additional seven hours to such candidates once the online registration process ends. Those candidates who have confirmed their registration till 5 PM of June 22, shall be permitted to submit the online registration fee till midnight of June 22, it further added.

The first admission list will be notified by colleges on June 30, at 9 AM and candidates will have to get their documents verified and secure admission in the allotted college by July 2 (up to 1 PM). The second admission list will be released on July 5. The admission process for undergraduate courses is scheduled to be closed on July 22. However, if some seats still remain vacant, Colleges will notify seats course wise and category wise on July 23 and then online applications from already registered candidates will be invited from July 24 to 25. Three merit lists will be released in a period of 8 days till August 3.

DU has also notified for Fitness test and sports trials to be held from June 24 to July 2, the detailed schedule mentioning the time and venue for the trials is available at the official web portal of DU.
