Kumaun University to conduct USET 2017 on 29 October

Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test, also referred as U-SET is scheduled to be held on 29th October. The Kumaun University, Nainital will conduct USET 2017 for determining the eligibility of applicants for the post of Assistant Professor. The 2017 year’s edition of USET includes total 27 subjects.

The online application process for USET 2017 commenced from 23rd August and the applicants will be able to register for the test till 22nd September. The last date of depositing the fee is also 22nd Sept, while the applications may be submitted up to 24th September.

The aspirants must possess a Master’s Degree from a recognized university, and must have scored at least 55 percent marks in Master’s degree to be declared eligible to sit in the exam. The minimum marks requirement for OBC/SC/ST candidates is 50 percent for the same. General Category candidates are required to pay Rs. 1,000 as examination fees, whereas OBC/SC/ST/ PWD candidates are required to pay Rs. 600.

Examination Centers: Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test 2017 will be conducted in 11 centers across the state located at Almora, Nainital, Pantnagar, Haldwani, Pithoragarh, Gopeshwar, Uttarkashi, Srinagar Garhwal, Dehradun, Haridwar, and Roorkee. The exam venue details can be checked from the admit card issued by Kumaun University to the applicants. The admit cards will be uploaded on the U-SET Website in the second or third week of October. The candidates will have to download the admit card from the official website as no candidate will receive the admit card by post.

Examination Scheme: The written test will consist of three papers, all to be conducted in one day:

USET Paper 1 will be conducted from 9.30 am to 10.45 am. The paper will have 60 multiple choice questions, of which candidates will have to attempt only 50, thus the maximum marks will be 100 in Paper 1. Two marks will be allotted for each correct answer. The test will include questions on reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness.

Paper 2 will also carry 100 marks and will have 50 objective questions based on the subject selected by the candidates. Each question will hold 2 marks. The paper will be of 1:30 hours from 10:45 am to 12 noon. USET Paper 3 will also include questions based on the subject chosen by the applicants. The paper will have 75 multiple choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. The timing for Paper 3 will be 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm.

As per the new guidelines framed by University Grants Commission (UGC), the candidates will have to score at least 40 aggregate marks to meet the cut off list (35 percent for reserved category candidates). Out of all such candidates, top 6 percent will be included in the merit list, and thus, will be declared qualified for the eligibility of Assistant Professor.
