PGCET counselling underway as KEA gears up to release mock allotment on August 22

PGCET Counselling for admissions to MBA, MCA, M.Tech/M.Arch courses is being conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). A total of 12,377 seats in MBA, 4,698 seats in MCA and 11,580 seats in M.Tech/M.Arch courses are on offer for the candidates who had taken Post Graduate Common Entrance Test held last month. KEA had conducted the PGCET 2016 on 2 & 3 July in which over 40 thousand aspirants had appeared. The results of the entrance test were announced on July 17 and according to the marks scored by the candidates, a particular rank was assigned to them. PGCET counselling is completely based on the ranks obtained by the candidates and would end of September 15, 2016.

karnataka pgcet counsellingThe KEA released the counselling schedule on August 3 and the seat matrix was displayed on August 10. Contrary to this, the document verification process commenced on August 9 for the candidates having rank from 1 to 700. Option Entry : The option entry was enabled on August 12 and the candidates will be able to exercise their options till 10 am on August 22, 2016. As the authority does in other major courses’ admissions, the mock allotment results would be published on August 22 after 5 pm. The mock allotments would be based on the choices filled by the candidates and are done in an order to give the candidates a fair idea about their chances of getting their preferred college/course combination.

The candidates will then be able to make appropriate changes in their options right after the publication of mock allotment results and till 10 am August 25. PGCET Real allotment results would be prepared on the final options entered by the candidates and would be published on August 25, after 5 pm. In the first round of PGCET counselling, the admissions would be done till August 31, 5 pm.

The authority would compile the admissions reported by the colleges and display the seat matrix again on September 6. Option entry would be again opened for eligible candidates from September 6 to 8 and the seat allotment results would be published on September 8 itself. This would be the second and final round of counselling process and the last date for reporting to the colleges has been set as September 15, 2016.

The document verification is being done in the KEA Helpline centres and the candidates are required to be personally present at the Centre with all necessary original documents.

The seat distribution in MBA course is as follows : 30 seats in IIPM, Bangalore; 4025 seats under Bangalore University; 230 seats under Davanagere University; 90 seats under Gulbarga University; 605 seats under Karnataka University; 160 seats under KUVEMPU University; 510 seats under Mangalore University; 235 seats under Mysore University; 607 seats under Private Universities (KLET University, CMR University, PES University, Reva University, JSS University, M.S. Ramaiah University, Presidency University & Dayananda Sagar University); 300 seats under Ranichannama University; 120 seats each under Tumkur University & VSK University and 5345 seats under VTU. The same goes for MCA courses as : 991 seats under Bangalore University; 60 seats each under Gulbarga & Karnataka University; 90 seats under Mangalore University; 65 seats under Mysore University; 162 seats under Private Universities (KLET University, PES University, Reva University & JSS University); 30 seats under Ranichannama University; 36 seats under Siddartha University and 3204 seats under VTU. Around 11,580 M.Tech/M.Arch seats are also to be filled through PGCET counselling as per the seat matrix published by KEA.
