Karnataka state Education Dept to handle College affiliation renewal directly

Karnataka state higher Education councilAt a recent event, Karnataka State Education Department has issued a notification regarding the affiliation of the colleges from across the state. As per the notice, the colleges affiliated to various state University will be able to renew their affiliation directly from the Higher State Education Department instead of applying to the following universities.

From this session onward, the colleges are directed to approach directly to the education department of the state for the purpose. However, a specific website has been created by the education department to ease the process of renewal. An official spokesperson stated that, the Principal Secretary of the education department has taken this issue to his concern. He also mentioned that the colleges would have the access to the website within few days.

Colleges seek for the affiliation will have to apply online by submitting an application from provided in the website. After the successful completion of the application form, the education department will forward the application to the respective universities for further process. After receiving the application form, the state universities will have to set up a Local Enquiry Committee (LIC). The report formed by the LIC after inspecting the nature of application by concerned college will have to upload the same to the website. The state education department will look into the matter and will decide whether to accept or reject the application.

The main aim behind the implementation of this new process is to avoid corruption. The colleges, which today wish to renew their affiliation or supposed to increase the intake capacity of students involves foul methods and hence in order to avoid such methods, the education department has decided to take such steps. According to one of the official of the department, the LIC has been alleged to use improper methods to provide affiliation during inspection.

“When it goes through the department, there will not be any space for that,” the official stated.

The online method of applying for renewal or fresh affiliation was brought up in a meeting where all the vice chancellors from various universities were present. It is also said to help in improvement of information and communication technology.
