KEA has announced the schedule for Karnataka CET 2017 to be held in May. The Karnataka Examinations Authority will be holding the Common Entrance Test – CET for admission to the first semester/ year in various professional undergraduate degree programs offered at Government/ University/ Private Aided/ Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions for the academic session 2017-18.
Unlike last year, CET won’t be held for admission to MBBS & BDS courses for the coming academic session. KEA has already notified that the admissions to MBBS and BDS programs being offered at the institutions will be made on the basis of NEET 2017, as per the orders of the Supreme Court. KEA CET 2017 will remain applicable for admission to the First year/ Semester to Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology, Farm Science courses, i.e. B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Sc. (Sericulture), B.Sc. (Horticulture), B.Sc. (Forestry), B.Sc. (Agri Bio Tech), B.H.Sc. (Home Science), B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.F.Sc. (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science & Tech), B.Sc. (Agri. Marketing & Co-Op), B.Pharm and Pharm-D courses.
KEA will follow the same schedule for CET like last year. CET 2016 was conducted on the first Wednesday and Thursday of May and following it, CET 2017 will be held on May 2 & 3. CET consists of four papers – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Biology and Mathematics papers will be conducted on May 2 in two different sessions, while Physics and Chemistry will be held on May 3. Here is the complete schedule of CET 2017:
- Biology (10.30 am to 11.50 am)
- Mathematics (2.30 am to 3.50 pm)
- Physics (10.30 am to 11.50 am)
- Chemistry (2.30 pm to 3.50 pm)
The initial 10 minutes in each paper will be for the distribution of question booklets, while the candidates will be allowed to open the question booklet and start answering on the OMR sheets at 10.40 am/2.40 pm. All the question papers will consist of 60 questions, each having 1 mark.
KEA will also conduct Kannada Language Test for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates of 50 marks on 4 May. The timings for this test will be 11.30 am to 12.30 pm.
For Architecture courses, candidates will have to appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, in addition to CET.
