Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has cancelled a total of 25,189 applications for its 6th Combined Civil Services Exam 2016. Almost 90 percent of these applications have been rejected on the grounds of non-payment of the application fee, while rest have been rejected because of incomplete application form filled and submitted by the candidates. The preliminary exam – JPSC 6th PT exam is scheduled to be held on December 18, 2016.
JPSC had cancelled its 6th Combined Civil Services Examination (Advertisement No. 01/2015) and notified it again through Advertisement no. 23/2016. The applications for 6th Civil Services exam were submitted from October 7 to 28. However, to facilitate more applications, the deadline was extended to November 8. The Commission had changed the syllabus and hence new applications were invited. Those candidates who had already registered for the Advt No. 01/2015 were not required to pay the fee again, but they were required to submit the proof of fee payment.
As per the reports, over 1 lakh applications have been received by the Commission. After the scrutiny of applications, as much as 25,189 applications were rejected. The list of rejected candidates was published by JPSC on December 1. While the Commission has mentioned the exact reason of application rejections, many candidates said that the discrepancy in application fee has resulted in their applications’ rejection.
Jharkhand PSC has also given a chance to these rejected candidates to submit the proof of their fee payment. Such candidates can submit the objections to Examination Controller, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Ranchi till December 8, up to 5 pm. The candidates can submit objections through regular post/speed post or in person.
JPSC 6th Combined Civil Services Competitive Exam 2016 has been proposed to be held in two stages comprising of a preliminary exam and main exam. The preliminary exam (PT exam) would be held on December 18, while the admit cards will be issued on December 5. JPSC 6th PT exam will consist of two papers, each having 100 questions. These two papers will be:
- General Studies Paper-I (History, Politics, Geography, Economy, Current affairs of India)
- General Studies Paper-II (questions related to Jharkhand State)
Both the papers will carry 200 marks each. The candidates equal to 15 times the number of vacancies will be called for the main exam. The shortlisting will be based on the performance of candidates’ in the PT exam. Based on the main exam, the candidates equal to three times vacancies will be called for interview. The dates for main exam and interview have not been announced yet.
There are 326 posts to be filled through JPSC Civil Services Exam 2016 distributed among 8 departments, including Jharkhand Administrative Services, Finance Department, Education Department, Planning Department, Cooperative Services, Information Services, Police Department and Social Security department.
