JoSAA Mock Seat Allocation on 4 July, after so much rescheduling

For discussing and finalizing the revised schedule of admission activities of JoSAA 2015, officials of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2015 met CBSE officials in New Delhi on 25 June 2015. It’s only after the CBSE announces JEE Main 2015 rank, registration and filling-in of choices in JoSAA portal would take place.

josaa mock allotment 2015Online filling-in process had begun and would go on till 3rd of July 2015 as according to revised schedule. Mock seat allotment would take place on 4 July. First round of seat allocation would start on 5th July and seat acceptance for round one would be from July 6 to 10. Likewise second round of seat allocation would take place on July 11 and seat acceptance for round two would be from July 12 to 15. Seat acceptance for the third round would be from July 17 to 20.

On 21 July 2015, seat allocation for the fourth round for NITs and preparatory subjects at IITs would take place. From 22 to 26 July, seat acceptance for the fourth round would take place. IITs would begin their academic session from 21 July followed by NITs from 27 July. A director from one of the older IIT is of the view that the delay is uncommon in the history of admissions and never took place in July till now.

Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has formed JoSAA, to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admission to 87 institutes for 2015-16. This includes 32 National Institute of Technology, 18 Indian Institute of Technologies, 1 Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad and 18 Indian Institute of Information Technology apart from 18 government aided technical institutes.

From this academic year onwards, admission to all these institutes would be done by means of single platform. For  34,000 seats available, more than 13 lakh candidates competed. All students who had appeared for JEE Main 2015 would be eligible to register for allocation of seat in the NIT  and students who got qualified in JEE-Advanced 2015 would be eligible to register for allocation of seat in all institutes like IITs and ISM Dhanbad.

The factors considered during the allocation of a seat of choices depends on category of the candidate, candidates position in the merit or rank list,preferences of academic programs by candidates and seat availability in various quotas for which he/she is eligible.
