The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has rescheduled the date sheet of class 10th and 12th exams. The date sheet is for the students of Jammu province living in winter zone areas only i.e. Kashmir Division.
The board exam which was to be held early has been postponed due to unrest in the valley over the encounter of Burhan Wani. Previously, the exam of class 10th and 12th was scheduled on the first and third week of the October but now contemplating on the situation in the valley it would be conducted in the second week of November.
The education department has also taken this decision considering the competitive examination like NEET and JEE. Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said, “The examination should be conducted in time so that results will be declared in time and students will get ample amount of time to prepare for examination like NEET and JEE.”
The situation in the Kashmir valley has disrupted the lives of people badly. In many parts, school children are unable to attend school. A bunch of examination dates has been postponed in the past few months.
In order to improve the quality of education, the education department has also decided to review ‘No Detention Policy’. Since the policy has been implemented, it has been observed that the competitive nature of the students has been decreased and there is no remarkable performance. The authorities are to revamp the policy to make the education fruitful.
Following this, the State Institute of Education would conduct T1 and T2 exams from class 5 to 9 with external evaluation and the JKBOSE would conduct T2 exam for class 11.
