JIPMER result 2017 for MBBS 2017 entrance exam has been announced. According to officials, 2,050 candidates have qualified JIPMER MBBS entrance in the results which are available at www.jipmer.edu.in now.
Days ahead of the schedule at jipmer.edu.in, the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) announced the result of it’s Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) 2017 entrance examination that was held on June 4, 2017. A press note by JIPMER says that JIPMER result 2017 of MBBS entrance exam were announced here on Friday. The results were originally scheduled for June 19 release but as usual, the Institute administration did so 10 days ahead, without any prior notice. But it’s a good surprise for the candidates who won’t have to wait anymore now.
JIPMER MBBS 2017 report
As per official data received from JIPMER, a total of 1,89,663 candidates had registered to take JIPMER MBBS 2017 entrance exam. Of them, only 1,49,450 actually appeared for the entrance test which was conducted smoothly across 339 test venues in 75 cities.
Having being recognised as the ‘Institute of National Importance’, JIPMER is only the institution along with AIIMS that has been excluded from the NEET. The institute has been given near complete autonomy for admission to medical programmes. That is why, for a mere 200 seats, such huge number of candidates appear to take the entrance each year. These 200 seats include 150 seats in JIPMER’s Puducherry campus and 50 seats in Karaikal campus. Of these 200 seats, 54 are reserved for Puducherry candidates and the rest are open for pan India students, but reservation rules follow there too.
JIPMER result highlights
JIPMER MBBS results have been uploaded in the form of a merit list, not the traditional ‘see by login’ method. The merit list has been uploaded in two parts (links below) which is a long list containing the status of 1,49,450 candidates.
In the merit list PDF, candidates have to search for their roll number or name or date of birth (Date/month/year). Since both PDFs are long, each of over 1200 pages, candidates checking the results form desktop/laptop may press ctrl+f and then type roll number or name in the search box, and enter. The details matching your input will be displayed, and make sure to verify the details. Mobile users can also search their details by provided method.
For each candidate, JIPMER has provided his/her percentile in each section of the paper i.e, in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English & comprehension, and Logical and quantitative reasoning. Then, total percentile is also given there. Apart from that, candidates will also be able to see what is their rank (according to the category).
And, most importantly, the status; whether or not you are eligible to appear for the JIPMER counselling. If you are eligible, Eligibility will be shown as ‘YES’ otherwise it will be a ‘NO’.

- 650 candidates have qualified from General UR category
- 380 from OBC category
- 220 from SC category
- 150 from ST category
- 50 from OPH category
- 300 from P-UR category
- 160 from P-OBC category
- 77 from P-SC category
- 3 from P-OPH category
- 60 from NRI/OCI category
A total of 2,050 candidates have been termed eligible for counselling on the basis of JIPMER MBBS 2017 result. Merit list can be viewed from the links given below.
Now that the results are out, JIPMER will hold the counselling for admission to MBBS courses on June 28, 29 & 30, 2017. Only the qualified candidates are to appear for the same.
The counselling for UR/OPH and P-OPH category candidates will be held on June 28. OBC/SC/ST candidates will have to attend the counselling on June 29 and Puducherry (UR, OBC, SC, NRI/OCI) students have been called on June 30.
The reporting time will be 09:30 for all candidates, and the venue is Academic Section, 3rd floor, JIPMER academic centre, Puducherry-06.
The candidates are required to bring their original documents at the time of counselling (documents are mentioned in the prospectus).
The individual rank card and marks of the candidates will be uploaded online at www.jipmer.edu.in on June 15 and candidates may then download the same. Notably, rank cards would not be dispatched to any candidate and can only be downloaded online.
