Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education for admission to undergraduate engineering courses offered at NITs, IIITs, other centrally funded technical institutions, state governments funded institutions. Every year more than one million students appear for JEE Main which further signifies the craze for engineering profession in the country. Latest news that may act as an alarm for engineering aspirants is that JEE Main (offline exam) would be conducted on 3 April 2016 (tentatively).
JEE Main is divided into two papers, out of which Paper 1 also acts as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced is the gateway to admission in the highest technical institutions of country, Indian Institutes of Technology and ISM, Dhanbad.

CBSE will soon release the official notification for JEE Main 2016, the expected date for official release is speculated to be 17 November. JEE Apex Body also opened tender for JEE Main computer based exam (online exam) yesterday. Now we can expect that the dates computer based test (online test) would fall in first weeks of April, 2016.
JEE Main consists of 2 papers, in which Paper 1 is for B.E./B.Tech, Paper 2 for B.Arch/B.Planning. Paper 1 would be conducted in both modes, pen & paper based and computer based. Detailed syllabus and exam paper would be available at official website of JEE Main with the notification.
Students are anxiously waiting for the release of JEE Main 2016 notification as last year the announcement of exam date was done at this time. Even the registrations were opened between 7 November to 18 December.
Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry recently clarified that single exam would not be enough for IIT admissions. The ministry is planning to introduce some remarkable changes in the admission process to focus on quality intake to the most prestigious institutions of country.
