JEE Advanced 2016: Of the 1,98,228 candidates who qualified the Mains examination, only 1.6 lakh signed up for JEE Advanced while the rest dropped out. 1,78,408 took the Mains exam offline and the rest 19,820 took the test online among those who qualified for Advanced.
Out of the total who appeared for Advanced exam, nearly 30,015 were girls amounting up over 21% and the rest were boys. Year 2016 saw a surge in the number of candidates who qualified Mains exam as compared to last year when only 1.52 lakh emerged qualified.
Considering the large number of candidates that took JEE Advanced this year, IITs set up test centres in 114 cities, adding up 16 more to last year’s. The test was conducted on 22nd May between 9 am to 12 am and 2 pm to 5 pm for paper I and paper II respectively.
The results for JEE Advanced 2016 are set to be declared on 12th June at 10 AM which will commence the final phase of admissions into IITs through the process of counselling and seat allocation. Until the results come out, candidates can use answer keys to tally their answers and get a rough idea of marks they’re gonna score, the score final will be disclosed upon the results declaration though. The cut off for JEE Advanced exam has been at 100 this year, down from the 105 set last year. The tough paper led to this fall in the cut offs. Apart from the cut off set for entrance test, it’s also compulsory for candidates to achieve at least 75% marks in board exams for General category. For reserved category students, the board marks should be at least 70%.
It’s been some curious two weeks for aspirants who took JEE Advanced examination this year. Since the question paper received mixed reviews and sources split up on few answers, official answer keys are what candidates can finally consider as a final say on correct answers. Mathematics paper was being termed the toughest as per JEE standards while Chemistry was of rather moderate level, with Physics being the easiest. Although the answer keys were already made available from many coaching institutions which led candidates to close approximation of marks, the answers officially correct will only be present in the official JEE Advanced 2016 answer key being released today by IIT.
Not much time is left when IIT will announce JEE advanced results 2016, finally letting students know how they’ve performed. With all further ado, here’s wishing you the best!
