The University of Jammu has been awarded A+ grade by NAAC. The University of Jammu has been awarded A+ grade (Cycle III 2009-2016) with CGPA of 3.51, thereby making the University a part of an elite group of A+ Institutions. JU had volunteered to be accredited and assessed by NAAC for the third time (Cycle III) and is eighth university in the row that has been honored with A+ grade, as per the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation results of institutions released on September 16.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an organization that assesses and accredits institutions of higher education in India. It is an autonomous body funded by University Grants Commission of Government of India, headquartered in Bangalore. The team of highly professional academicians and academic administrators carry out the work process of ranking of educational institutions.
The NAAC Peer Team visited the University of Jammu from September 27-30, to assess and accredit the University by validating the self-study Report submitted by the University.
The grades granted by NAAC are based on the seven-criterion assessment of NAAC peer teams. The criteria are: curricular aspects, teaching-learning and evaluation, research, consultancy and extension, availability of infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance, leadership and management, innovations and best practices.
