J&K Govt fulfills its promise made during the budget; waived off school fee for girls

Our government is coming with new and interactive ways to promote girl education. Recently, Jammu and Kashmir government waived off school fee for girls so that they can study. This has been done till the schools of higher secondary education. The main aim of the government behind this is to promote free education to girls.

Shaleen Kabra, Commissioner Secretary of Education Department, said, “In order to encourage enrolment of the girl students in the schools and to further incentivise their education, sanction is hereby accorded to waive off school fee charged from the girl students in the state-run educational institutions up to higher secondary level with immediate effect.”

This was the announcement that was made during the budget session, and, as a result of the same, has come into effect now. The announcement was made by the PDP-BJP led government and it now seems that they have fulfilled their promise. In the area of Ladakh, there are around 10 lakh girls that are below poverty line. With this announcement, all those girls will surely be benefitted.

It has been seen a lot that after a certain age, all the girls tend to give up their studies as their parents are not able to afford the fees or simply tend to deem it necessary. But, now these girls will be very well able to complete their basic education. This is a very good step that the State government has taken towards the benefit of the girls in the region. It is being hoped that this decision will surely increase the number of educated girls in the region.

In a recent incident, a girl student from a college in Mumbai wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting him to facilitate the students who are able to pay the fees and instead focus on those who are in need of money and are not able to pay the fees.
