Ukraine Police arrests killers on the basis of Indian Student’s statement

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup, today, told the media about the tragic incident in which three Indian students were stabbed in Ukraine on Sunday, April 10. It has been officially confirmed that the three students were residents of Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar and Agra, & were studying in Uzhgorod Medical College, Ukraine.

Vikas Swarup informed, “In an unfortunate event, three Indian students in Uzhgorod Medical College (Ukraine) were stabbed by three Ukrainian nationals at around 3 a.m. in the morning of Sunday, April 10.” Reportedly, Ankur Singh (Ghaziabad) and Pranav Shandilya (Muzaffarnagar) died after being stabbed fatally while third students Indrajeet Singh Chauhan (Agra) is recovering and is currently in a hospital.

MEA also assured that the Indian Embassy in Ukraine is in constant touch with the Foreign Office of Ukraine. The authorities are discussing the safety issues of Indian students in Ukraine. Vikas Swarup said, “The Embassy has spoken to the families of the two deceased students. All necessary actions are being taken to complete the formalities for sending the two bodies to India. The Embassy is taking up the matter related to safety of Indian students strongly with the Foreign Office of Ukraine.”

Indrajeet gave his statement to the Ukraininan authorities investigating into the matter and based on his statement, three Ukrainian nationals were arrested while they were trying to cross the Ukranian border after the incident. Police has also found passports and other documents of three Indian students along with a blood-stained knife from killers.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who has been constantly active on social networking platform Twitter since assuming the office, tweeted about the incident.
