In a first, CAT 2017 answer key released by IIM

Probably for the first time in the history of biggest management admission test, the official answer key of Common Admission Test (CAT examination) has been released. IIM Lucknow, today, released the CAT 2017 question paper along with objection form. The candidates can log in to the official website www.iimcat.ac.in to check CAT 2017 answer key.

The candidates are required to log in using their User ID and Password to check the official answer key along with the question paper. The objections to any number of question/ answer can be submitted by the candidates by paying a specified amount of fee. The last date to submit objection form is December 9, up to 2 pm.

Indian Institutes of Management conducted computer-based CAT 2017 on November 26 in two sessions. The candidates will be awarded percentile score when the test results are announced next month. CAT 2017 result is expected to be announced in the second week of January 2018. CAT 2017 qualified candidates will have an opportunity to opt Post Graduate Programmes in Management offered in 20 IIMs and Fellow Programmes in Management (equivalent to Ph.D.) of 13 IIMs. Apart from IIMs, the CAT 2017 scores will also be used by some non-IIM member institutions.

After the announcement of CAT results, Each IIM will shortlist the candidates for next level of selection and the list of such candidates will be updated by each IIM separately. The selection process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI).

Normalization Process used in CAT 2017 results: Since the CAT exam was conducted in different test sessions, the scores obtained the candidates in each session will be normalized. As per CAT notification, “The Normalization process shall adjust for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms. After normalization across different forms, the scores shall be further normalized across different sections. The scaled scores obtained by this process shall be converted into percentiles for purposes of shortlisting.”

The results of CAT 2017 will be published in the form of scaled scores for each section [Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Section III: Quantitative Ability (QA)] and Total score along with the Percentiles.

CAT 2017 was notified by IIM Lucknow on July 30 and the applications were submitted from August 9 to September 29. Reportedly, 2,31,067 applications were submitted for CAT 2017. The test was conducted on November 26 in approx. 140 cities.
