IIT Kharagpur to include MBBS course in its academics soon

Basically IIT Kharagpur is recognized as the renowned institute conducting the engineering courses but according to sources very soon the authority would include the MBBS course as well. A grant summing up to an amount Rs. 230 crore has been already approved by the Government that makes the process easier carrying out the construction process flawlessly.

DR. Partha Pratim Chakraborty informed PTI about the particular fact that clears the authenticity of the program. The work is expected to complete within 26 months since it’s started on the 3 acre plot. The place would also consist of the hospital with 400 beds that would be identified as the super specialty hospital.

Permission from Medical Council

It’s a big good news that the authorities already received permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI) initiating the MBBS course for the undergraduate students in medical field. IIT Kharagpur comes out as the first institute to begin the MBBS courses among the IITs all cross India.

The IIT hospital would not serve the patients only but would even work on research fields for biomedical, clinical and transitional options. Research on drugs and delivering to the right destination is another field where the hospital would focus on with an initiation to develop the overall social outlook. According to the director, “It will bring the two diverse disciplines of engineering and medicine together in education and research. Technology will be used to access and treat large number of patients through satellite centres and secondary hospitals.”

The hospital would make use of the advanced equipment along with the smarter technical features ensuring the suitable outputs. Here are mentioned certain useful options that are as follows:

Moreover, the paramedic and nursing training would be provided along with the biomedical unit followed by the medical outreach unit.

Future Prospects

After some time the authority would increase the number of beds to 750 that would be helpful to accommodate more people receiving proper treatment. Even there would be an international appeal establishing the mutual relationship with Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore USA and Imperial College of Medical Science, London.

IIT Kharagpur executes the 3 year post graduate program in medical science and technology since 2001 being recognized as the best school of Medical Science and Technology. The campus also includes the B.C. Roy Technology hospital with 32 beds accompanied with ICU facility.
