Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore hosted the eighth edition of its National Annual Entrepreneurship Summit, Eximius 2015. The theme of this event was ‘Let’s Get Started‘. The summit was organized in collaboration with N S Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL).
The theme ‘Let’s Get Started’ was set up with the motto to encourage the young minds across the nation to think big. The summit was organized by IIM Bangalore in order to provide recognition to the entrepreneurs who are not much popular in Indian markets. The main intention of the summit is to lay emphasis on the entrepreneurs from rural, semi rural and urban areas who overcomes all the difficulties on daily basis.
Eminent speakers such as Ms. Alarmel Valli (Internationally acclaimed dancer and Padma Bhushan Awarded), Dr. Ramachandra Guha (historian), Mr. Mahesh Murthy and Mr. Mukesh Bansal (board of chairman of myntra.com and head of flipkart.com) hosted this edition of Eximius. They shared their experiences and lessons which they have acquired over a long period of time to all the people present in the summit. The panel also discussed upon the MSME policy in India and the role played by the web in our society.
In order to promote the need of entrepreneurship, various events and workshop were organized. As such, ‘Unsung Heroes’ was one of the contests organized in the summit. It was a video making competition in which the contestant were required to capture the un-noticed life of economically weak entrepreneurs like hawker and vendors (Related : Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana).
The two best entries were awarded with a certain sum of money by IIM Bangalore. There were no such guidelines or restrictions in making such videos. The contents were to be judged on basis of uniqueness. Further, the best content videos will be uploaded online and social media channels. The uniqueness of this contest is that the prize money will be divided equally between the participant – who made the video and the entrepreneur – based on whom the story is made.
By this summit, the organization is trying to support the low class entrepreneurs and helping them towards their upbringing.
