Convenor CAT 2015, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has extended the registration dates for the Common Admission Test, 2015. Now candidates can apply till 25 September for one of the biggest management admission test. The test is slated to be conducted on 29 November in 136 cities at 650 venues.
Prof. Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, Convener CAT 2015 informed that thousands of candidates missed the registration process owing to various reasons and hence it has been decided to extend the registration date. As per the earlier schedule, the registrations were due to close on 20 September, but an update was notified today, thus extending the last date for registration. Reports have shown that around 1.38 lakh candidates have already registered for the test and the number is expected to grow more in next 6 days.
The online registrations for the CAT 2015 commenced on 6 August, now the candidates can register and make the payment till 25 September. Common Admission Test is the gateway for admission to management programmes offered by IIMs and other top rated B-schools across the Country. With the commencement of academic session in 6 new IIMs in Nagpur, Visakhapatnam, Sirmaur, Amritsar, Sambalpur and Bodh Gaya, the available seat intake is around 3700.
It is expected that the decision to extend the last date of registration has been taken keeping in mind the past year trend of dip in number of registrations. Providing more days to applicants, this move will allow interested candidates to turn up for registrations. Last year too, the registrations were re-opened for one day.
CAT will be taken as a computer based test consisting of 100 questions, divided in 3 sections. All the applicants are required to score minimum required percentile in each section.
The admit cards for the common admission test would be made available for all the applicants from 15 October. The test would be conducted on 29 November in two sessions. The results are expected to be announced in the second week of January 2016.
