IGNOU collaborates with French Embassy and Ministry of Higher Education to train teachers

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has amalgamated with French Embassy and the French Ministry of Higher Education for training teachers on behalf of India and other South Asian countries pertaining to modern developments in education of French as a foreign Language.

According to IGNOU, “The Embassy of France in India and the Centre International d’Études Pédadogiques (CIEP), France is organizing a week-long teacher’s training program in association with the IGNOU’s School of Foreign Languages (SOFL)”. The target group appears as the French language teachers in secondary and senior secondary schools as well as for the University professors.

The said training will be conducted from 24th May 2015 to 29th May 2015, with around 90 trainee applicants from India as well as South Asia.

CIEP is a pioneer Institute in France in the meadow of global collaboration in education and is a key public unit under the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research. CIEP is also an associate of the Sorbonne Group of Universities and Research Institutes.

The learners will undergo various training modules exposing them to innovative techniques and current trends in pedagogy of French as a Foreign Language.

According to the University, “They will concurrently be set off into the IGNOU model of teaching-learning and introduced to unconventional modus operandi of material development and release through Open and Distance Mode, of which IGNOU continues to remain the leading institution in the country “.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a significant academic associate of this training program, catering to the French linguistic teachers, who may be in the long run be appointed as scholarly counselors by IGNOU for taking initiative in promoting its French language courses.

Training modules

Amongst the eight nos. of modules of this training program, there will be precise modules on education of French in the Indian context. Some of the modules of the training program are:

  • Elevating the French class with online assets and generate online activities.
  • Communicative and action oriented teaching of grammar.
  • Create and sentient the verbal actions in a French class.

The program will benefit 90 French language teachers, delegates of an array of institutions be they from Secondary, Senior Secondary schools and/or Universities from India and South Asia.
