The results of ICAI CA CPT 2016 exams held in June are being declared today i.e., on July 18, Monday at 2 pm in the afternoon. Over 1 lakh candidates have taken the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) held last month and would be able to access their result by entering their respective roll number at the official result sites icai.nic.in and caresults.nic.in.
ICAI is also announcing CA final results today at the same time and details will be available at ICAI website since caresults.nic.in is temporarily down and redirect to the ICAI portal only.
The Common Proficiency Test was conducted in around 170 cities including three abroad centres on June 19. The test was conducted in two sessions for four papers – Fundamental of Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude; first session (morning session) from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM and second session (afternoon session) from 2 PM to 4 PM. The maximum marks for these four papers are 60, 40, 50 and 50 respectively. The candidates are required to score a minimum of 30 percent marks in each paper and a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregate of all papers.
As per the notification published by ICAI on January 8, 2016, the declaration of ranks in respect of CPT has been discontinued from CPT held in December last year. Earlier, ICAI used to provide ranks to the qualified candidates.
Along with the facility for CA Final exam results, ICAI has also availed the facility of getting CPT result on mobile. To receive the result by SMS, candidates are required to send an SMS to 58888 as mentioned here. Type CACPT<space>Roll number and send it to 58888.
The passing percentage for CA CPT has been around 30 percent for past few years. As per the statistics of the previous test held in December last year, a total of 1,28,916 candidates took the test while 32,619 were declared qualified, thus resulting in the overall pass percentage of 25.30 %. The authority earlier used to send the result cards to the candidates, however, now all the candidates are required to download the same from the official website. It is expected that the CA CPT result cards would be hosted at the official site within 10 days of the announcement of result. Depending on the result of CPT, candidates will be able to register for the next level in CA courses, i.e. CA Intermediate. Such candidates are required to register themselves for Intermediate course (IPCC) before 1 September to be eligible to appear in May 2017 exams.
