The Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will be conducting IPCC-CA examinations in November 2016. The admit card for ICAI IPPC Nov 2016 exams were already issued from October 7th as the exams would commence from 1st November.
The schedule of the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) or Intermediate and Final Examination of Chartered Accountant (CA) course to be held in November 2016 was notified earlier this year. The Chartered Accountancy course is considered to be one of the toughest and rigorous professional courses in the country with a very low success ratio. The percentage of students who pass the examination is as low as 3-5%.
The examinations are conducted on three levels. They are Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) or Intermediate exam and the Final Examination.
IPCC is the first stage of the chartered accountancy curriculum wherein only working knowledge of core and allied subjects to accountancy profession is covered, while at the Final course, advanced application knowledge of core and allied subjects to accountancy profession has been intended to be inculcated.
A candidate can take the IPCC Examination after passing CPT and is required to undergo eight months study course before appearing for the first time in the Intermediate (IPC) Examination. IPCC has two groups of seven subjects. Group – I consists of four subjects- Paper 1: Accounting, Paper 2: Business Laws, Ethics and Communication, Paper 3: Cost Accounting and Financial Management, Paper 4: Taxation and Group – II of three subjects- Paper 5: Advanced Accounting, Paper 6: Auditing and Assurance, Paper 7: Information Technology and Strategic Management.
A passing grade in IPCC is awarded if the candidate obtains 40% marks in each subject (a subject is attributed 100 marks) and an aggregate of 50% in the aggregate in each group. The benefit of set-off is also available if the candidate appears for both groups together and obtains 50% collectively in both groups, even if he fails to obtain an individual aggregate of 50% in the each group independently.
The process of application for IPCC started on August 5 with the deadline to submit the application being August 26 without late fee and September 2 with late fee.
