The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) on Friday issued a notification (CWE-V) for recruitment to Officers (scale I, II & III) and Office Assistants (multipurpose) posts in participating Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). A total of 56 RRBs are offering 16,560 posts of Group ‘A’ Officers & Group ‘B’ Office Assistants (the number may vary with time) as per the notification and the final selection of the candidates would be on the basis of the rules laid down by the IBPS. The online applications for IBPS RRB recruitment would be filled from September 14 to 30, 2016 and the online exam would be conducted in November/December at various centres across 209 cities.
The vacancies to be filled through this recruitment process are 5539 posts of Officers Scale I, 1999 Officers Scale II posts (Generalist and Specialist), 198 Officers Scale III posts and 8,824 Officer Assistants (Multipurpose) posts. The Officers Scale II posts are further divided as 1533 posts of General Banking Officer, 152 posts of Agriculture Officer, 75 posts of Marketing Officer, 19 posts of Treasury Manager, 55 Law Officer posts, 35 Chartered Accountant posts and 130 posts of Information Technology Officer.
While the candidates would be able to apply for only one post, the selection process varies for Officers and Office Assistants. The final selection of candidates to the posts of Officers (Scale-I, II & III) would be done through Interview, there will be no interviews for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) posts.
Talking about the exams, the applicants of Officers Scale-I and Office Assistants (Multipurpose) would have to take two online exams – preliminary and main. The candidates would initially have to appear for a preliminary exam having 80 questions (80 marks), and based on their performance in the preliminary exam, they would be called to appear for the Main exam. The preliminary exam would be of 45 minutes duration while the main exam would be of 2 hours duration (200 marks). The candidates securing the required cut-off marks for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) exam would be provisionally allotted to a RRB, while the candidates of Officers Scale-I would be required to clear the interview before their selection.
IBPS would organise single online examination for Officers Scale-II & III applicants and the provisionally shortlisted candidates would be called for a common interview which would be coordinated by the Nodal Regional Rural Banks with the help of NABARD and IBPS in consultation with the appropriate authority. The online exam for Officers Scale-II (General Banking Officer) & Officers Scale-III would be of 120 minutes duration each, while the exam of Officers Scale-II (Specialist cadre) would be of 150 minutes duration. All the exams (Officers Scale-II & III) would carry a weightage of 200 marks.
The preliminary exam of Officer Scale-I would be held on November 5 & 6, to be followed by Office Assistant preliminary exam on November 12, 13 & 19. The main exam for Officer Scale-I candidates would be conducted on December 11, 2016, along with the single online exam for Officer Scale-II & III. The main exam for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) would be held on December 18, 2016. The results of the main exam would be announced in December, while the interviews (wherever required) would be organised in January. The dates mentioned here are tentative and IBPS may change them if needed.
Pre-Exam Training for selected candidates
IBPS would also provide pre-examination training to a limited number of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority communities/Ex-Servicemen/Persons with Disabilities at selected centres. The pre-exam training for Officer Scale-I candidates would be organised from October 17 to 22, while the training for Office Assistant candidates would be provided from October 24 to 29.
