The result of IBPS PO mains exam 2016 that was held on November 20 & 25 will expectedly be announced within next 1-2 days. Even though the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has itself not fixed any date for the declaration of the results, previous trends suggest so.
IBPS had issued official notification CWE PO/MT-VI for filling around 8,822 posts of Probationary Officers / Management Trainees in 20 participating banks/organizations. The applications for the same were filled in July and August for which well above 20 lakh candidates turned out. However, as the prelims exam was conducted in October, somewhere around 13-14 lakh candidates actually appeared for the test. Based on the prelims exam result announced on November 4, around 2 lakh candidates were invited to take the Mains exam which has been conducted some 10 days back.
IBPS PO Mains exam had 200 questions divided among total 5 sections : Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Computer Knowledge and General Awareness. As it was in the prelims exam, the candidates are required to qualify in each section (test) separately. The maximum marks for PO Mains exam are 200 and the candidates obtaining minimum qualifying score in each test as well as in aggregate will only be considered for interviews.
The interviews will be conducted in January/February, while the exact date and venue will be intimated to the Mains qualified candidates in January itself. The interview will be of 100 marks and the marks obtained by the candidates in the Mains exam & interview will be taken together in a ratio of 80:20 for provisional allotment. The IBPS would make provisional allotments in April based on the preferences filled by the candidates in application forms.
The candidates are currently vying for the IBPS PO Mains cut off for which only speculations are doing rounds. The picture will be clear once the PO Mains result will be out. It is to note here that IBPS would not announce the main exam marks for candidates shortlisted for interview till the interview process concludes.
