IBPS PO 2017 notification rolled out on Monday, but the reduction in the number of vacancies have downplayed the aspirants. While last year’s exam was notified to fill around 8,822 vacancies, IBPS PO recruitment 2017 mentions only 3562 posts of Probationary Officers. For now, the tally of vacancies remain tentative and the candidates may expect a rise in the number of posts, but not too much. Check below for major changes in IBPS PO 2017.
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) released the official notification CWE PO/ MT-VII for filling vacancies of 2018-19 year. As per the advertisement, only 9 Banks (out of 20 participating Banks) have reported vacancies. Of total 3,562 vacancies, Canara Bank accounts for maximum 1,350 posts, while other Banks which have vacancies include Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India. 7 Banks (Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, United Bank of India and Vijaya Bank) have reported Nil vacancies, while 4 (Dena Bank, Indian Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank) have not reported vacancies. The advertisement mentions that the vacancies are indicative and updated information on the same will be provided at the official website from time to time.
The online application process for IBPS PO recruitment 2017 will start on Wednesday, August 16 and the candidates will have time till September 5 to submit the objections. The candidates of 20-30 years age and having graduation (degree) from a University recognized by Government of India are eligible to apply for the exam. The application fee is Rs. 100 for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates and Rs. 600 for others. The candidates will have to register for IBPS PO 2017 exam from official website www.ibps.in.
IBPS will conduct PO/ MT recruitment exam in two phases, Preliminary and Main. All the eligible applicants will have to undergo Preliminary test (screening test) scheduled to be held on October 7, 8, 14 & 15. Those declared qualified in the preliminary exam will have to appear for the Main exam.
IBPS has announced that PO 2017 Main exam will be conducted on November 26. The candidates shortlisted after the mains exam will be called for Common Interview to be conducted by Participating Organisations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank. The whole recruitment process will be completed by April 2018.
Major Changes in IBPS PO 2017 Recruitment
While the selection process is same like the previous years’, IBPS has changes the pattern of Main Exam. The PO Main exam will now have 157 questions, in place of 200 questions in last year exam. Also, the duration of Main exam has been changed. The candidates will be given 3 hours to solve first 155 questions (4 sections) and another 30 minutes to solve 2 questions under English Language (Letter writing & Essay) this year. Earlier, the Main exam used to be of 140 minutes duration.
