Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) 2017, the test for admission to the five year integrated course in Masters of Arts (M.A.) in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras was conducted today (April 16).
The appearing candidates, if qualify the test, will get the admission on the seats.This year, The programme is available in two streams namely; Development studies and English studies and a total of 46 seats are up for grab.
The first two years of curriculum will be common for all admitted students and after, that the programme will be divided in the above mentioned two streams. The allocation to the seats will depend on the students’ performance in the first three semesters, availability of seats and also on students’ preferences.
The exam was of 180 minutes and consisted of two parts. Paper 1 based was computer-based MCQ portion with allotted time of 150 minutes. In the part 2, 30 minutes were allotted to candidates for essay writing part. The paper timings were 10 am to 1 pm.
The results for HSEE-2017 will be announced at http://hsee.iitm.ac.in/ on May 9, 2017, as specified in the official notification by IIT Madras. Results include ranks and scores obtained in HSEE 2017 by the candidates.
The rank list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks secured in HSEE-2017. Two separate merit lists would be prepared. One merit list (common) for the candidates securing at least 50 percent in the exam and the other list for candidates from reserved categories.
in order to be in the rank list, an OBC-NCL candidate needs to secure at least 45 percent, SC/St candidates needs to secure at least 25 percent in order to make it to their respective merit lists. A common merit will be devised for PwD candidates, who at least, should secure minimum of 25 percent in HSEE 2017.
