Every year many students apply for revaluation after the declaration of Class 12 board results. Out of all the students, there are few who aspire to become Engineers. Usually the revaluation result of board exams gets delayed. So owing to the fact that students aspiring to become engineers do not have to waste one year just because of the delay in revaluation results, Union human resource development ministry has taken initiative on their part and has asked state education boards to give priority to JEE applicants.
From the sources it has been revealed, “State education boards have been asked by HRD ministry to give priority to the revaluation applications of aspiring engineers so that they get a fair shot at country’s top colleges including IITs.” The officials of the ministry are of the view that there have been cases in the past when the scores of students have drastically increased after revaluation, affecting their overall ranking.
Class 12 marks play a vital role for seeking admission to the prestigious engineering colleges, including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs). When the rank list of JEE Main is prepared 40% weightage is given to the Class 12 board exam while 60% weightage is given to JEE Main entrance test marks. Now when the result of revaluation gets delayed, it automatically creates hindrance in chances to secure admission in any of the renowned engineering institution.
Human resources development ministry official said, “It is yet to be finalized but the ministry has suggested the boards to give such students priority so that their results can be finalized before submission to JEE.” Further the official added, “If revaluation results are declared on priority, we can save a student’s year. Boards were requested to look into the matter during a recent meet.”
During the recently held meeting with the school education boards and Central Board of Secondary Education, the state boards have also been asked by the ministry to declare Class 12 results before May 31 so as not to delay the admission process of engineering colleges.
This was done because the seat allocation to IITs and NITs got delayed during the counselling of present academic session 2015-16. The prime reason behind the chaos was late submission of rank lists as state boards were late in declaring their results.
