Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) conducted the Online Test on 27th August (Sunday) for recruitment of Technicians at Visakh Refinery. The online exam was conducted at 5 Centers i.e. Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata, Chennai & Delhi.
HPCL had earlier notified to fill 60 vacancies for the posts of Technician (Operation) & Technician (Boiler) at Visakh Refinery. The numbers of posts for Technician (Operation) are 50, whereas the numbers of Posts for Technician (Boiler) are 10. To be precise, the vacancies for Unreserved applicants are 23 posts, 07 for SC, 04 for ST, 18 for OBC, and 08 posts for Backlog (ST). The applicants for the Technician recruitment 2017 will be chosen based on online Test (computer based test) and Skill Test followed by the pre-employment medical examination.

The applicants were given 2 hours (duration) in order to complete the online exam. There were total 100 objective type questions in the exam. Each question carried 1 mark, without the provision of negative marking. The Question paper consisted of 2 Parts having bilingual languages – Hindi and English.
Both Part I (General Aptitude Test) and Part II (Technical / Professional Knowledge) carried 50 marks. While all the candidates were given 2 hours to complete the exam, PWD candidates were given the extra time of more 20 minutes per hour.
Part-I was common for both posts and included questions distributed among 4 topics – English Language; Quantitative Aptitude Test; Intellectual Potential Test; and General Knowledge, General Science & Environment. The Part-II of online exam was different for both the posts and carried total 50 questions.
After qualifying in the online exam, the applicants will be called for Skill Test, in accordance with the order of the category-wise and position wise merit list i.e. as per the cut-off scores outlined by HPCL. The Skill test will be of ‘qualifying nature’ only. The applicants who get qualified in the Skill Test will be required to appear for the pre-employment medical examination.
Physical/ Medical Fitness of the selected applicants should be positive i.e. the applicants seeking employment with Hindustan Petroleum required to be medically fit as per the medical standards of Hindustan Petroleum’s pre-employment. Defective Color vision will be considered a disqualification under Pre Employment Medical rules of HPCL. For all the positions, the minimum Cost to Company (CTC) will be of Rs. 40,000/- per month. The selected applicants will remain on probation period for 9 months.
