Gujrat State Fertilizer and Chemical Ltd. is a well known fertilizer company in Gujarat, basically run by state government. GSFC will soon set up a university namely ‘GSFC University’ which is planned to be established at Dumad village on 28 hectares of land. The village is situated on outskirts of Vadodara.
The academic session of GSFC University commences from 3rd August at a temporary campus situated at GSFC Training Institute until the main campus is ready to operate at Dumad. GSFC University is considered to be the first and foremost university across the whole nation. Setting up the institution will provide an environment to GSFC students to get an industrial exposure and quality education both at the same time.
An Act passed by the Gujarat Assembly in December 2014 guarantees the establishment of GSFC University. With setting up of such university, the leading fertilizer company has took its first step towards educational field. GFSC’s Chairman and managing director SK Nanda told to local newspaper agency that establishing such university, they aim to create a bridge between industries and academics. The company wants GSFC University to become prominent university with higher learning and research facilities with innovative ideas in teaching and training program.
As of now, the total intake for the School of Technology will be 150 with 50 percent seats reserved for Gujarat students and 50 percent seats for students from all over India. There will be two departments; mechanical and chemical and both departments will have 75 students.
The university will initially have School of Technology that will offer 4 year under graduate course in 5 of basic branches in engineering – mechanical, civil, chemical, electronics and environmental science. The GSFC University has also opted to collaborate with various international institutions and sports facilities to start exchange and training program with students.
University has also planned to set up School of Management to offer its students the business education and research facility. The university has also decided to set up Management Development Center for working executives. With the establishment of such University, Gujarat Government is looking forward to educate new generation about fertilizer plants and also to make them understand the need of growing food of India.
