GPAT 2017 Registration ends today, Exam on 28 January

The online application process for the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) will conclude today. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) conducts the national-level entrance exam as per the directions of Union HRD Ministry to select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission into the Masters (M.Pharm) program.

GPAT 2017 has been scheduled to be held on January 28, while 29th Jan has been reserved. The three-hour test will be held in a single session at multiple test venues across 58 cities. Earlier, GPAT was conducted twice a year, but from the academic year 2016-17, the Council decided to hold it only one time. GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-approved Institutions/ University Departments/ Constituent Colleges/ Affiliated colleges for admissions in Masters program.

Around 25 thousand candidates had appeared for the GPAT in 2015, while some 29 thousand took the test in 2016. Though the official figures are yet to be out, the number of registered applicants is expected to be above 30 thousand this time. The registration process for AICTE GPAT 2017 had commenced from October 10 and was due to end on December 10, however, the last date was extended to December 25.

GPAT will be conducted as computer-based online test comprising of 125 questions. The test is scheduled to be held in a single shift of three hours from 2.30 pm to 5 pm, but the candidates have been advised to report at the respective test centers by 1 pm. Each question will carry 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted from total score for each wrong response. The admit cards will be available online from 13th January while the results are expected to be announced on 10th February.

GPAT will consist questions from Physical Chemistry; Physical Pharmacy; Organic Chemistry; Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Pharmaceutics; Pharmacology; Pharmacognosy; Pharmaceutical Analysis; Biochemistry; Biotechnology; Microbiology; Pathophysiology; Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics; Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics; Anatomy, Physiology and Health Education; Pharmaceutical Engineering; Pharmaceutical Management; Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence and Dispensing & Hospital Pharmacy. AICTE has also provided GPAT trial test on the official website for candidates to get familiarized with the functionality and navigation of the actual computer based test.
