Government scraps ANM & GNM exams for Nursing colleges

Auxillary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) and General Nurse Midwifery (GNM) would come to an end as decided by Haryana Government. However, manifold nursing institutes would face serious problems due to this issue, as they would loss students who seek admission for the particular courses. The exams were held in November and after the announcement of the decision a great shock has attacked both the colleges as well for the aspirants. Ram Niwas, Additional Chief Secretary of Health reveals that serious irregularities have been detected in the examination pattern where about 8,000 nursing students appeared for the exam.

All the exams that were conducted by certain institutes without any valid permission has been cancelled. Presently, the exams would be conducted by Pt. BDS University of Health Sciences Rohtak. Also, the news has came out as the most shocking thing for many students over 47 nursing colleges.

About the Institutes :

Representatives from several nursing colleges strongly oppose the government’s decision, as it would ruin the career of the students who dream to become the efficient nurse. Here the words from Ravi Singh, the Chairman of Aryabhatt Nursing College, Manawali in Fatehabad can be quoted as “Our institutions are registered by the State Nursing Registration Council (SNRC) as well as Indian Nursing Council (INC). In the absence of a board constituted by the government, the exams were conducted by the SNRC in 2012-13, by PGIMS in 2013-14 and by Director, Medical Education in 2014-15. Now, the government has put hundreds of students in s dilemma by announcing the cancellation.”

The Nursing Institutes’ Association has come out of many questions about the cancellation of the 1st year exam of ANM and GNM that would affect the vocation of the trainees. The training session was carried out about 8 months ago and now all the candidates may suffer from certain difficulties in their career. Therefore, the association asks the government to re-consider the decision saving the interests of the new aspirants. Dr. Gajraj Kaushik, the President of the association communicated with the media that may give rise to some hope.
