GITAM University issues applications for GAT 2017

GITAM University has issued application forms for its upcoming admission test to be held in April next year. GITAM Admission Test, commonly called as GAT is conducted by the University every year for admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. GAT 2017 would shortlist students for admissions in B.Tech / 6-year Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) / B.Arch. / B.Pharm / M.Tech / M.Pharmacy programs offered at varsity’s Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam campuses for the academic year 2017-18. GAT 2017 exam date has also been announced by the varsity.

The applications can be submitted online for GITAM GAT 2017 at The application can also be filled offline by obtaining the application form from university or bank branches of Union Bank of India, Indian Bank and Karur Vysya Bank. Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, GITAM University has been accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC. The varsity offers 128 programs at UG, PG and Doctoral levels in Technology, Architecture, Pharmacy, Science, Medicine, Nursing, Management, Law and Humanities. Over 18,000 regular students are registered with the university.

The registration fee for GAT 2017 is Rs 1000 for Boys and Rs. 600 for Girls. The online registration will be successful only if the completed form along with demand draft is received by Director-Admissions on or before 31 March 2017. GAT 2017 would consist of 100 multiple choice questions for B.Tech, B.Arch. Dual Degree (B.Tech+M.Tech) & B.Pharm courses. The test would be of 2 hours duration. The questions in the admission test will be distributed among three sections as follows :

  • Section A – Mathematics/Biology – 40 questions
  • Section B – Physics – 30 questions
  • Section C – Chemistry – 30 questions

Each question will carry 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted from total score for each wrong answer. On completion of the online test, the computer will display the result in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers and the net score. The online test is scheduled to be organized across 48 test centres from April 16 to 30, 2017.

The rank will be announced within 10 days from the date of completion of GAT 2017. GITAM University would admit students on the basis of merit position of the candidate secured in GAT 2017. The University has also reserved 25 percent of seats at Bengaluru Campus for meritorious students from Karnataka State. Additionally, first rank holders of central and all state board examinations 2017 will be given admission to their desired program without appearing for GAT 2017.
