GATE 2017 result, score card out: IIT Roorkee

The result for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2017 for the examination held in February has been announced a day before the scheduled date, IIT Roorkee notified here. The candidates can find their results at the official website (www.gate.iitr.ernet.in) after login with their credentials.

GATE 2017 resultWhat’s in the result: It means that GATE 2017 result of the candidates who qualified the test in February have been declared and their scores have also been displayed. The GATE 2017 score card will be displayed at the official website from March 26th to May 5th. And the candidates who have qualified the exam will also be view their All India Rank (AIR) obtained in GATE 2017.

GATE 2017 was held on February 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th, 2017 in a total of 8 sessions and for 23 papers. The test is conducted for admissions to M.Tech/M.E./P.hD to IITs, NITs and CFITs.

Preliminary reports suggests that around 9.5 lakh candidates have appeared for GATE 2017 in their respective branch. In previous years too, the number of candidates appearing for GATE exam has been in the range of 9-11 lakh. GATE exam saw the maximum turnout in 2013 when nearly 12 lakh took the test and it’s been a ride down the hill since then.

The official data for this year’s exam has not yet been made public but last year’s analysis shows that only 16.53 percent of the candidates (8.18 lakh takers) had qualified the GATE exam.

Even though the exam is practically a gateway to jobs in PSUs and the recruitment through GATE is also on the rise, the number of takers has been declining past few years. As of 2017, 12 PSUs have signed pact with IITs and more are supposed to join the line this year.

The exam was notified in 2016 when the applications commenced on September 1st and ended on October 4th. After the successful holding of the examination, IIT Roorkee, the organising institute for GATE this year, released the final answer keys on February 26th for all papers.

Note-  The official website is not functioning properly for now as lakhs of candidates are trying to access their results at once. If you’re unable to check yours, just wait it out for few minutes.
