On the brink of GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2017, the aspirants must be preparing to go the extra mile in the paper. Set to begin from 4th February, the exam will be computer based and will happen in two sessions on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th February 2017. This year, GATE is to be conducted by IIT Roorkee with some changes. First time in GATE, it has shown inclusion of international candidates of Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Also, three new examination centres have been added and XE paper has included a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic sciences.
In the examination, there would be a virtual scientific calculator which may prove out to be a handy tool if used wisely. To get a feel of the real exam, IIT Roorkee has uploaded 23 mock paper on different subjects which is an approximate replica of the actual test. All the candidates should take the mock test of the respective subject which is available free of cost on the official site.
Admit cards has already been published on 5th January. Candidates are advised to read all the instructions and necessary details given on the admit card to avoid any discrepancy at the last moment. At this last moment, one should not put extra stress and try to keep his/her body and mind calm and healthy. Also, the no. of test attempts should be decreased and focus on revision should be included in the schedule.
The result of GATE 2017 will be published on 27th March 2017. Further process of counselling for Masters course and PhD in IITs, IISc and government funded institutions will be started accordingly. GATE score can also be valid for various positions in PSUs and other government or semi-government organisations.
