The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in 2017 is being held on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th February and IIT Roorkee will be organizing the examination. As the application process for GATE 2017 is underway, the rate of study would have been increased by engineering students and GATE aspirants. Most of the engineers aspire to crack GATE examination to join postgraduate courses or PSUs and other companies.
The application process for GATE has started from 1st September and will continue till 4th October. Interested candidates can get more details and apply online at the official site i.e. www.gate.iitr.ernet.in. The cost of application is Rs 1500 for general and OBC male candidates while it is Rs 750 for female/SC/ST/PD candidates and it is US $50 for international candidates.
The examination will be computer based and will be held on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th February 2017 with the result declaration in March 2017. The GATE score will be valid for three years. Candidates with their score can apply for postgraduate courses or for different PSUs and other companies which accept GATE score.
Candidates can also request to change their examination city if they filled wrong or want to change due to any reason till 16th November 2016. Also, the application form will be scrutinized after 15th October and candidates will be contacted by SMS or e-mail to rectify the particular details. Minor mistakes such as Name and Date of Birth can be changed by the candidates after 20th October.
This year, GATE 2017 is being conducted by IIT Roorkee with some changes. For the first time in the GATE History, international candidates can appear in the examination. Students of six countries (Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Srilanka, and U.A.E) will be eligible to appear in the test.
GATE is considered a difficult examination among engineers. One should have conceptually clear to ace the exam. Also, experts advise that an ample amount of practice is needed to perform well in the exam.
