Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE 2016 dates have been announced by Indian Institute of Science, IISc Bangalore. The examination would be conducted between 30 January and 7 February 2016. The entrance test would be conducted by IISc. Bangalore for admitting students into Masters in Engineering degree programs. From the date when results would be announced, the scores obtained in GATE 2016 would be valid up to three years. IISc and seven IITs (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kanpur, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Guwahati) would jointly conduct GATE 2016.
Online registration for GATE 2016 would start from 1 September 2015 with the last date of filling application forms on 1 October 2015. Few modifications have been introduced in GATE 2016 test pattern. There were 22 papers before, now a new stream of study named Petroleum Engineering had been introduced, with total papers now being increased to 23.
Candidates appearing for GATE 2016 would be required to answer 65 questions with maximum marks of 100. The exam would be online computer based test with multiple choice questions. Online virtual calculator would be provided to all examinees during the examination whereas previously students used to bring their own calculators. From the official website of GATE 2016, students would be able to access their admit cards.
Candidates should have passed B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch./B.Pharma or M.Sc./M.A/MCA and Integrated M.E./M.Tech or dual degree, Integrated M.E/M.Tech after B.Sc. with good marks from a recognized university. Aspirants can register for GATE 2016 using the official web portal.
Application fee applicable for General and OBC Male candidates has been fixed as Rs. 1500 while for other candidates, it is Rs. 750.
