The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has announced the date for it’s entrance test this year. FTII Pune offers admissions in various Film and TV courses. An entrance exam is to be qualified to be eligible for admissions and this year the exam has been scheduled on 26th March.
One of the toughest exams in the field of Film and Television , FTII institute provides a unique platform to prepare its students for the creative field. There are multiple diploma and certificate courses namely, Direction, Screenplay writing, Cinematography and many more.
The admission forms for the entrance were made available online since 6th February 2017 and the last date to fill the same was 5th March, 2017. On 26th March, the exam would be conducted offline at various centres throughout the country. The exam aims to test the general knowledge, mental aptitude as well as the creative skills, logical thinking and other related knowledge in their respective subjects.
The written examination is of 3 hrs duration for 100 marks. However the admission process is not complete after this written exam, students who qualify it are required to appear for interview and auditions which will further test their creative skills. Final merit list is prepared on the basis of written examination, orientation and interview with each stage carrying 20%, 50% and 30% weightage respectively, subject to qualifying in Medical test.
This might be the last time that FTII is holding it’s own entrance exam since from 2018, reports are that FTII and SRFTI are planning to hold common entrance for admissions.
With little time left for preparation, the candidates are advised to practise previous years question paper to familiarise with the pattern of the question papers. Admit cards can be downloaded from the FTII website. Students are required to carry their admit cards along with identity proof and a passport size photograph to the exam centres to be allowed to appear for the exam.
FTII was established in the year 1960 in Pune and since then it has continued to provide great opportunities for its students. Considered as the best Film school, this Institute gives a chance to boost career in the film industry.
There are limited seats for each course taught and do not exceed more than 10 to 12 seats. Further the seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes as well as OBC category. With limited strength of students this institute gives a hand-on experience to its students for each respective course, be it a two year diploma course or a certificate course of 12 months. Also, its complex admission process ensures the fair and transparent intake of the best and talented candidates in their fields.
