Story from Yesterday:

FYJC merit list and FYJC first merit list 2016 has been declared for FYJC Pune at pune.fyjc.org.in and FYJC Mumbai is to be announced at 5 pm on fyjc.org.in/mumbai today.

Mumbai and Pune first FYJC merit list 2016: The merit list of FYJC for admission to 11th standard in Mumbai and Pune will be announced on June 27 at 5 pm. The First Year Junior College merit list, based on SSC results of aspirants, reservation rules and a completely online process is being carried out to fill seats in 11th standard in around 700 Junior colleges and more than 3000 schools in the state of Maharashtra.

Over 2.21 lakh candidates have registered under FYJC Mumbai in 2016 while FYJC Pune received just about 71,258 applications for which the first merit list is set to be released today. About 5 thousand more applications were received by FYJC Mumbai when the deadline to submit forms was extended by two days, finally tallying at 2.22 lakh from initial number of 2.17 lakh.

fyjcThe FYJC admission merit list will be available on website fyjc.org.in/mumbai and pune.fyjc.org.in for aspirants of respective region. The general merit was announced on 20 June for FYJC Mumbai and on 21 June for FYJC Pune. As the report indicated, the cutoff is expected to be all-time for FYJC standard; all thanks to high percentages obtained by students in board exams.

While FYJC Mumbai had released the general list on scheduled time and Pune region delayed it by one day, it’s expected that first merit list will come out timely today as official notification had stated. The websites for merit list of Mumbai region and Pune are separate. The access to FYJC merit list will be activated in the evening today, enabling aspirants to check their status of merit, overall rank, category/quota details along with the seat/college allocated to them.

The candidates who will get seat allotted today will have to pay the fee for 1st merit on the next 3 days between 10 am to 3 pm to confirm their admission and report at the respective centre to complete formalities. Candidates opting for higher options can participate in second and third round of merit list declaration scheduled for July 4 and July 11 respectively. In case of making any changes to the options or drop out of first merit list, candidates need to contact any reporting centre and follow the guidelines.

The admission process for minority/in-house/management quota had already been taken out between June 7 to June 21. The number of candidates from Mumbai Metropolitan Region also witnessed surge as compared to previous years for FYJC online admissions. However, students don’t need to bother themselves much since the same growth was also registered in seats when 4,500 more seats were surrendered to the education department by schools for in-house quota and minority pool.

But that’s not all. As I mentioned above too, it’s highly unlikely that first merit list will bring any good news for percentage holders in 60s or even 70s. Why, you’d ask. Because just the number of students having secured more than 75% is insanely high including aspirants from all boards, be it SSC, CBSE or ICSE. A total of 80,401 students have their 10th passing percentage between 70-100% who also applied for FYJC admission.

Around 1.49 lakh are being offered in Mumbai region alone for the academic session set to begin this July. At present, the department has notified of 3 merit list to be published but a fourth one also seems on the cards this year considering if the seats remain vacant until that point.

FYJC Mumbai (fyjc.org.in/mumbai) and Pune (pune.fyjc.org.in), both will be releasing the merit list at 5 pm today on their respective websites. The scheduled for fee payment and reporting is also same for students of both regions.
