Total 2,62,133 students have qualified MH CET and are eligible for admissions into engineering courses offered at institutions across Maharashtra state. But one thing that may hamper many dreams is the decision to AICTE to decrease the number of seats by almost 15,000. Currently, the seats available in different engineering courses are 1,38,471. Joint Director of DTE Maharashtra, Dayanand Meshram informed that the seats were reduced after All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) took action against 131 engineering colleges in the state who did not comply with the Council’s guidelines.
However, DTE Director feels the reduction in number of seats will not prove any hindrance in admission process as most of the students do not take admission. It was reported that only 83,352 students took admission last year.
