Nidhi Bansal, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, said, “The camps are being held under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, in order to make the youths aware of drug abuse. The advocates will hold lectures and awareness camps in different schools and interact with the students.”

The camps have already started with the first camp taking off on Monday. The camp was held in Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Sector 20 by Advocate Piyush Mittal. At the same time, Ashok Balyan, his colleague addressed the students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21.

District Legal Services Authority of Raipur is the body involved in organizing camps for the students in different colleges and schools. The main motive behind organizing these camps is to spread awareness across. High profile advocates have been called to deliver to the students on drug abuse. Not only this, the students were also told about their fundamental rights and about the various medical facilities that they can avail and also about the steps that are taken in case of a drug abuse. Before the advocates could deliver a lecture to the students, even they were also provided with the training on the same. Apparently, the initiative has received great response from the students and the teachers.

Piyush Mittal said, “Apart from the legal aspects, students will be educated about their fundamental duties. They will also be made aware about various medical facilities available in cases of drug abuse and whom they can consult. The idea is to encourage them to talk about it and dispel all myths. Drug abuse is a menace and students should be able to understand this.”

Advocate Kanchan Bala will also hold camps in government schools, sector 15 and Anurag Goyal, a lawyer in a government school at sector 7. The schools and the colleges have been divided on the basis of the lawyers.
