From July 1, 2016 onwards, getting mark sheets, degrees or migration certificates from Delhi University will just be a click away. The University of Delhi has decided to deliver the aforesaid documents online. With this, the University is all geared up to become the first Indian university in going completely online for delivering necessary documents, procurement of which used to be a process full of hiccups till now.
From July 1, DU graduates alumni would be able to apply online for their mark sheets, degree certificates, attestations, migration certificates and transcripts. In addition, the university will also be able to deliver the required documents, if asked, to the desired destinations such as educational institutions, employer and visa agencies where students wish to apply. While electronic copies of documents will be delivered to desired destinations, the original degree and mark sheets will have to be collected personally due to security reasons. For delivery to service employers, visa agencies and universities, once an applicant applies for a document, a password – in the form of personal identification number – will be generated, which will be shared with the respective agency/ institution who could then access the verified documents.
To make the process easier, an alumnus of any department, college, centre or institution affiliated with the university needs to only submit the enrollment number, examination roll number, select the category (the type of documents sought) and make the payment online.
The university is also in the process of digitizing mark sheets of the recent years. Undergraduate students, including those enrolled in the School of Open learning and Women’s Non-Collegiate Board, were all given online mark sheets in last few years and were asked to get it attested from their respective colleges so as not to face problems while seeking admissions in other colleges or universities. Even postgraduate mark sheets of nine departments were also available online.
However, when Delhi University stopped issuing its mark sheet in original on paper, it came out with an official notification for the same, but there were few universities across the nation who were not able to believe and created hurdles in the admissions. Let’s see now how many universities and institutions will take the time to understand the step taken by the Delhi University.
