After a month long ban on the recruitment of officials in government colleges under Delhi University funded by local government, finally council decided to appoint governing council to look up into the matter. There are total of 15 government bodies in a respective college out of which 5 of them are nominated by state government.
Governing bodies of these sponsored colleges are responsible for all functions related to the appointment of professionals. The local government that is AAP had stopped all the appointments in colleges under Delhi University due to the violation of authority for appointing principals and vice-principals. Some of these colleges are Kalindi College, Laxmi Bai College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Moti Lal Nehru College etc.

All these colleges received an official notice from AAP to stop the regular appointment in these colleges until governing bodies get selected. On Monday, Executive Council of Delhi University held a meeting and approved nomination of governing body members.
According to the professors, the ban in hiring of personnel in respective colleges was only a temporary measure to avoid any foul means of recruitment of principal’s and that of vice- principal’s. However, with the appointment of governing bodies the whole system will change and would run flawlessly.
Some amendments were also made by Delhi University regarding the appointment of teachers and other non academic staff in university and colleges. Like minimum qualification, academic records in order to maintain the high standards of education.
