The admission process for Delhi University will start from May 22, 2017. This is an online registration process for the undergraduate courses which has a total of 54,000 seats. This year, process of admission is to start two weeks ahead of DU’s usual schedule. The admission in these courses is based on the cut off announced by the university, However, the last date to fill the admission form is not been finalised yet. The DU admission committee members have introduced 12 new centers for conducting DU Joint Admission Test (DU-JAT). This is done to make the application procedure reachable and nearby to every student, across the country for the upcoming academic session for this year. Last year the center for examination were set up in Bangalore, Nagpur, Delhi, Jammu, Varanasi and Kolkata. In addition to these cities this year the center’s will also be there in Ahmadabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, NCR, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram
About Undergraduate courses
“Students can start filling the online registration form from May 22. As we are starting the registration earlier, students will have enough time to get their certificates and other documents in place,” said M Pandit, a member of DU’s admission committee. There are courses for which the entrance test will be conducted from May 31, 2017. These courses are Bachelor of Management Studies, BA (Hons) Business Economics, Bachelor of Business Administration (financial investment analysis).“There are around 1600 seats in undergraduate courses in which entrance test is conducted,” said an official.
About Postgraduate courses
The online registration for postgraduate courses and research courses will start from May 31. “Admission to postgraduate courses such as MPhil and Ph.D. will begin from May 31,” said an official.However, there is still no clarity on whether entrance test for postgraduate and research courses will be conducted online, as planned earlier because there has been resistance from students’ bodies to conduct offline entrance tests.
General Information for the admission process
DU registrar Tarun Das said the registration process will be online for all programmes and categories. “The eligible applicants are informed that the registration process of all the programmes will be completely online including Sports, Extra Curricular Activities (ECA), Kashmiri Migrants, CW (Defence), and PwD categories,” Das said. Even he further added that the details of the registration process and subsequent procedure will be available in a bulletin of information, which will be uploaded online soon on www.du.ac.in.
The university will hold a standing committee meeting to finalise the admission criteria for various courses on May 16. “After Tuesday’s meeting, changes in the criteria for different courses will be approved. Once the changes are approved, we will upload the information on the university website,” said officials.
