CUCET 2017 admit card to be issued on May 5

The admit cards for the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) 2017 will be released today. The tests are scheduled to be held on May 17 & 18. Over 1 lakh students apply for CUCET each year for securing admission in one of the 10 Central Universities. For the academic session 2017-18, the admissions are being offered into 322 integrated/ undergraduate, postgraduate (PG, M.Tech, B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Pharma and PG-Diploma) and research courses (M.Phil. and Ph.D. research programs). CUCET admit card is expected to be out shortly, we will update the exact time here.

A consortium of 10 Central Universities (Haryana, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, South Bihar, Tamil Nadu) and Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics are organizing a combined CUCET 2017 for admissions to their various programs. The Central University of Rajasthan (CURaj) is the national coordinator of CUCET 2017. The online registration process for CUCET 2017 commenced from March 20 and while initially, the last date was April 14, it was extended by five days to April 19 later.

The entrance exam will be conducted in three shifts on May 17 & 18 at multiple test centers in 76 cities across the Country. The test will be conducted in three sessions; morning session from 9 am to 11 am, noon session from 12 noon to 2 pm, and the evening session from 3 pm to 5 pm.  Based on the courses chosen by the applicants, the test timings will differ. One can check the exact test timing, date and venue from CUCET admit card. Also, the candidates are required to carry the admit card along with a valid ID proof to the test center on the concerned date to establish their identity.

CUCET 2017 will comprise of 100 multiple choice questions for all the courses, however, the test pattern will be different for each course/ discipline. Basically, the paper will be divided into two parts; Part A having 25 questions based on English Language, general awareness, mathematics aptitude and analytical skills, while Part B will have 75 questions based on the particular course. For example, for undergraduate courses, Part B of CUCET 2017 will have 25 questions each on Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (or Biology).

For admission to some integrated courses/ B.Voc./ MBA/ MCA/ LL.B or any other general course(s), there will be only paper. The paper will comprise of 100 multiple choice questions covering English Language, reasoning, data interpretation/ numerical ability, general awareness and analytical skills.

CUCET will be conducted as an offline test wherein the students will have to answer the questions in OMR sheet. Each question paper will have 100 multiple choice questions to be answered in two hours time. All the questions will carry 1 mark each and the negative marking will also be applicable in the test. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong response given by the candidates.

As an attempt to maintain transparency in the examination process, the answer key of all the question papers will be published by the University one day after the exam i.e. on May 19, while the results will be announced on June 7.
