In another holdover, after SC ruled out centre’s plea for ordinance over NEET, COMEDK has said that it will take its decision over the medical admissions in Karnataka after phase 2 of NEET. The Consortium also said that it’s unlikely to share its medical seats with government.

The COMEDK results for UGET 2016 will be announced in the evening today at 6pm. Keeping the schedule intact, COMEDK informed that the score cards of students who sat for UGET examination on 8th May will be made available today and counselling process will be notified soon after.

Although the results will be out in evening today, the information about top rank holders was released by COMEDK earlier today. 7 out of top 10 achievers are of Karnataka state, while in top 100, 56 are from the state, from top 1000, 417 are from Karnataka. The Hindu reported that all of the the top 1000 rank holders have achieved more than 70 percent marks.

The topper of COMEDK UGET 2016 is Adhokshaja V. Madhwaraj, who studies from Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Ramamurthy Nagar. He secured the first rank in the test and scored 170 marks out of total 180 marks allotted maximum. Even in 12th class board exams, he secured 98% marks. A topper in all forms.

Notably, COMEDK was cancelled for medical & dental courses this year as of Supreme court’s ruling which restored the NEET and scrapped off all other common entrance tests for medical admissions. However, the test for engineering continued to take place. A total of 1.79 lakh students who registered to take the test, most of them, figuratively 1.01 lakh were to appear for medical courses. The rest of candidates took the test for admissions into engineering courses.

After the cancellation for medical courses, the test was then held only for engineering. Finally, only 55,680 students took the test that was held 8th May.

Currently around 18,000 seats are up for grab in 161 engineering colleges through COMEDK UGET 2016.

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering & Dental Colleges of Karnataka had already released the answer keys for the test on May 26. Now, the score cards will be available at it’s web portal www.comedk.org today.

The counselling schedule will be notified by COMEDK in due time after publication of results. Only the students who took the test will be able to access results. Student’s roll number/registration number and respective details will be required to check UGET result and score cards.

For the first time, COMEDK conducted the test through online mode this year. The Consortium had collaborated with TCS for creating the online test system, although it was not without glitch that test took place. Initially, 739 test centres were booked which were later reduced to 697 in 153 cities, considering the cancellation of medical course exam. Although the test is exclusively focused for admissions in colleges of Karnataka, majority of registrants in COMEDK UGET 2016 were from other states of the country. The test was also organized througout country, not just Karnataka.
