This book fair will witness a number of publishers and sellers from different parts of the country.
The book fair will start tomorrow and will end on 19th January. The book fair will be organized at St. George school on Poonamallee High Road. The President of BAPASI, Gandhi Kannadhasan, said, “Visitors can have an overview of the fair and find stalls through the map in a mobile application. The stalls will be put up in alphabetical order.” There will be around 700 stalls at the book fair. The fair will be open between 2 pm and 9 pm on weekdays and between 11 am and 9 pm during weekends.
He further added, “As of now, book lovers need to produce the e-ticket and pay at the venue. For each Rs. 100 ticket, four persons will be allowed on all 14 days. The daily events schedule will also be available on the mobile application. We plan to introduce online ticketing system for the book fair next year. We expect 10 lakh to 11 lakh visitors this year. It was quite challenging to organize this book fair on six months. Last year, we had to postpone the fair to June due to the December 2015 floods.”
A common point of sale machines will also be available for the publishers who will be part of the fair. With the help of this machine, they will be able to swipe their credit and debit cards. This machine will also issue rupee tokens for all those customers who are facing change problem at the counter.
