As if the problems were not already enough for the students, with a huge syllabus and several ramifications in their studies, who are going to appear for their board exams, that is, 10 and 12 standard exams, the major Indian education boards CBSE, ICSE, and ISC have changed their exam schedules and according to the new schedules the exams are set to end a little later than they do every year.
According to the recent developments and the official websites, the exams are set to end towards the last week of April. Under the usual circumstances, the exams were set to end towards the end of March making the exams last almost a month longer. The exams of the CBSE board for the class 10 students are set to start from the 9th March 2017 and continue up until the 10th April. On the other hand, the exams of the class 12 CBSE students is set to start on 9th March as well but continue well into the last week of April ending on the 29th April 2017.
The exam dates have been rescheduled due to elections all over the nation. In a press release, the board officials said, “We made all possible efforts to maintain reasonable time gap between the major papers and also ensured that the students appearing for Joint Engineering Exam (JEE) and upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) complete the CBSE examinations ahead of these entrance exams.”
However, is the time enough for the students to prepare for the entrance exams into colleges and universities? Apparently not. While the NEET exam is to be held in the 1st week of May (according to the common trend) it leaves only a few days for the students to actually prepare especially for the entrance exams. Apart from CBSE, several state governments have also postponed their examinations to similar dates making this a hectic time for the students to prepare for the board exams as well as the entrance exams.
The ISC and ICSE exams too have been postponed due to elections and the new dates suggest the exams ending towards the end of April as well. The ISC exams are set to end on April 21st whereas the ISCE exams are set to end on the 26th of April. With this, we can only hope that the students are prepared well in advance for their national level entrance exams.
