Chandigarh Education Department issued an official notification regarding the common admission process for admissions to Class 11 in all government senior secondary schools of the UT, undersigned by the District Education Officer. The admission process is scheduled to kick-tart from June 10, 2016. All government senior secondary schools are affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The notification mentions that the school prospectus will be available at eight government schools and can be purchased by paying a sum of Rs 150 in cash. Schools where the prospectus will be available are : Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS) Sector 10, GMSSS Sector-20/B, GMSSS Sector 28, GMSSS Sector-37D, GMSSS Sector-47, GMSSS Sector 38(W), GMSSS Modern Housing Complex Manimajra, Government Senior Secondary School-Mauli Jagran(V). The prospectus can be purchased within the stipulated timing, between 9 AM to 1 PM. The prospectus will contain one registration form which is to be submitted after duly filling it, the same can be done at any of the above mentioned schools, irrespective of the school from where the prospectus was purchased. The prospectus contains the details of courses/subjects available in schools with number of available seats, admission schedule, admission process along with other details like fee structure.
It is also to note here that the registration form can also be obtained online from the official site of education department, www.chdeducation.gov.in. Last date to submit the filled registration form is June 20, and it can be done up to 1 PM, after which no queries will be entertained.
There are total 39 government senior secondary schools under the Department of Education, Chandigarh Administration with around 13 thousand seats. Common admission process will be carried out for filling around 6,000 seats in humanities, 2000 seats in commerce, 300 seats in science and 2000 seats in vocational courses. Detailed information on the school-wise availability of seats and course combination will be provided in the prospectus.
As Government Model High School, Sector 38-D has been upgraded to Government Senior Secondary School from this year, so there will be more seats than previous years. Two new courses in mass media and legal studies have also been introduced at selected government schools, reported Indian Express.
There will be two rounds of counselling, both to be conducted online. There will be a third round of counselling, if needed, which will be conducted offline. After receiving all the registration forms, the education department will publish a common merit list on June 27 at 4 PM. Another list indicating the allotment of school and stream will be made public on June 30 at 11 AM, as per the schedule. All the students who will be a part of allotment list, will be required to submit the requisite fee by July 2 as the academic session would be commence from July 4.
