The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) will announce the results of it’s class 10 board exams tomorrow on April 21. The 10th results will be announced at 10 am. Students may visit the board’s official website www.cgbse.net to check their results with the credentials (roll number etc).
Reportedly, around 4.44 lakh students were enrolled to take this year’s CGBSE class 10 board examinations including about 10 thousand private students. 4.04 lakh are reported to have actually appeared for the exams which were held from February 10 to March 2, 2017. The board had set up 12,085 test venues for the timely holding of the examinations. The state was among the few to hold exams earlier in February and is now declaring the results too in time, following Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
It was being widely speculated last month that results will be out by March-end, that however, proved out to be wrong as the board, days ago, informed us about the proceedings. While the 10th class results will be out tomorrow, it will likely take a week more for the board to announce 12th class results. The tentative date for CGBSE 12th results declaration is April 27, 2017.
In 2016, class 10 results were published on April 28, a week after class 12 results. However, this year, it’s reverse as 10th results are coming first. The overall passing percentage last year was recorded at 55.32 percent and around 4.31 lakh students have appeared for the exams, HT reported. Girl had performed marginally better than boys with a passing percentage of 55.75 over boys’ 54.84 percent. In 2015, 4.03 lakh took class 10 board exams including 1.92 lakh girls and 2.11 lakh boys. The overall pass percentage in 2015 was 55.23 percentage, with 55.36 percent for girls and 55.08 percent for boys.
Along with the declaration of results, CGBSE will also publish a merit list featuring toppers in state board exams. In 2016, Hemant Kumar Sahu from Raigarh had topped class 10 board exams with astounding 99 percent marks. And in 2015, Astha Sathpathi from Raigarh district too had attained 99 percent marks and became the topper. The board will put up the toppers’ list at it’s website www.cgbse.net in time.
This year though, the board has said that it will thoroughly check the results of top 100 students. Also, the copies of students who are getting upwards of 80 percent, will be re-checked. This is being done in order to avoid totaling errors and also in view of the toppers scam witnessed last year in Bihar.
