CBSE notifies Merit Scholarship for Single Girl Child to promote education for girls

Apex education board, Central Board of Secondary Education provides several scholarships for deserving students under various categories. All the scholarships are awarded on the basis of eligibility criteria and merit. One such scheme ‘CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Children’ was initiated by the Board few years back. Those girls who are single girl child of their parents are eligible for this merit based scholarship.

Single girl students who have scored a minimum of 60% marks or 6.2 CGPA grade in Class 10 board examination conducted by CBSE in the year 2015 can apply for the scholarship, the scholarship is being provided by CBSE so that the awardees can continue their school education till higher secondary level.

The board also took an initiative UDAAN 2015 for promoting the education for girls in the country.

The students selected under ‘CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Children’ will get monthly allowance of Rs 500 per month, the amount will be paid for a period of 2 years through Demand Draft or ECS mode. Students are also bound to renew the scholarship after the completion of Class 11 studies. CBSE has also notified that the awardees must secure minimum 50% marks in Class 11 examination, otherwise the renewal of scholarship would be barred.

The applications for the scholarship can be filled online, the last date to apply for the scholarship being 30 September 2015. It is to keep in mind that the applications must be certified along with signature/ stamp of the Principal of the present school where the student is studying.

Application must reach the concerned office with following documents :

  • An attested copy of Class 10 mark sheet issued by CBSE.
  • An affidavit (in Hindi or English Language only) from the parent stating that the candidate is the only child of her parents as per prescribed language. (The format is available at the CBSE website)
  • A cancelled cheque of the bank account in which the amount is to be credited.
  • A xerox copy of the bank pass book duly attested.

For fresh applicants of the scholarship scheme, the application must be sent in an envelope super scribing “APPLICATION FOR MERIT SCHOLARSHIP FOR SGC X 2015 (Form F-1)” to the following address along with the documents.
